Javier Syquia
I am a 2021 Candidate in the Brown|RISD Dual Degree Program, studying Graphic Design at the Rhode School of Design, and Chemistry at Brown University. The Dual Degree Program enables me to pursue two undergraduate degrees at two institutions, ultimately gaining an interdisciplinary education in Design and STEM. I am immensely interested in the ways design can inform the way I approach understanding complex scientific concepts, and more specifically how science is able to inform my own design practice.
I have previously interned at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA, researching Mars habitat development as well as taking the role of Design Lead for the team. During my experience at NASA, I was also a RISD Maraham STEAM Fellow. Please feel free to learn more about my experience interning at NASA here.  I was also a Corporate Branding Creative Intern at Ogilvy & Mather Manila for the summer of 2017. I am excited to see where my studies in design and STEM can take me next!
I previously worked as one of the Co-Chairs for the nation's largest student-run design conference, Better World by Design 2018.
Thank you!
